Samuel Quintana was born in the beautiful Espanola Valley of Northern New Mexico, and has lived there most of his life. At an age 16, he taught himself to play the guitar, and at 25 took up the trade of woodworking. He has made a career as a musician and as the creator of beautiful custom cabinets, furniture, sculpture, jewelry, and guitars. Quintana refers to his style as Spiritual Surrealism. He uses elements of the ancient Mayan culture and the fluidity and sensuousness of Art Nouveau to create a work “rooted both in the struggle of the people and the attempts of humankind to return to life among the creative forces… to a higher spiritual consciousness.”
